I am verry excited about this...I proposed to my girlfriend on Friday and we are now engaged. We've only been dating for 6 months but I took the plunge!

Thanks all. I'll be spending the fourth of july at my mother in law's shore house. I'm sure some of that time will be spent talking about wedding plans and such. :)

Congrats, dude, that's fantabulous news! Wow, six months? Let's see, took me probably six years to finally ask my girlfriend if she wanted to get hitched, then we had a long engagement because it took us years to build up the money for rings and stuff and make the wedding plans.

they say if you don't know your girlfriend or boyfriend is the one within 6 months, that's probably a sign she/he isn't. I agree with that wholeheartedly, and think it's silly for people to say 6 months is too quick. when you know, you know, that's how I see it. congrats to you for taking the plunge, and best of luck to you!

Although, to play devil's advocate, you don't really know anyone till you live with them, etc.

Bernadetta, I hear what you're saying about not really knowing someone till you live with them, which was what I was getting at. you can't get to that step if you don't take risks, like getting engaged in an amount of time that some people term as being too quick for their liking.
